Supervision & Support
My Approach to Supervision
One of the things I hear frequently from therapists is some version of:
“I understand the theory. I just don’t always know what to do with it in the room.”
That is exactly the space I enjoy working in.
My supervision style is collaborative, formulation-driven and practical. We can absolutely talk theory, but I want supervision to help you walk into your next session with a clearer understanding of what is happening and some ideas about what you might actually do.
Depending on what you bring, supervision might involve case formulation, identifying schemas and modes, treatment planning, selecting and practising interventions, working through treatment impasses, reviewing experiential work, thinking about the therapeutic relationship, or exploring your own responses and schema activation as a therapist.
I also place a strong emphasis on developing your own clinical judgement. My aim isn't to create therapists who continually need to ask “What would Cienna do?” I want to help you become increasingly confident in understanding why you are choosing an intervention and adapting your approach when therapy inevitably doesn't go exactly according to plan.
And sometimes supervision is simply a space to say, “I have absolutely no idea what to do with this client anymore.” We can start there too.
Who I Supervise
I provide supervision to psychologists and other mental health professionals at different stages of their careers, from clinicians developing their confidence with complex presentations through to experienced therapists wanting more specialised Schema Therapy supervision.
Supervision is available for:
General clinical supervision, particularly for clinicians working with complex presentations, trauma, personality difficulties and emotional dysregulation
Schema Therapy supervision for clinicians wanting to develop their formulation and intervention skills
ISST Schema Therapy accreditation, including supervision and feedback on recorded clinical work
Clinical Psychology Registrar Program supervision
Group Schema Therapy supervision
Clinicians wanting support integrating Schema Therapy with EMDR and other therapeutic approaches
You don't need to be an advanced Schema Therapist to work with me. I enjoy supervising clinicians who are relatively new to the model just as much as those wanting to refine more advanced clinical skills.
Supervision, Consultation and Mentoring
CONSULTATION
Get expert input when you are stuck on a client case.
Offering one-off or occasional consultation around complex cases, formulation, schema therapy interventions, treatment impasses, integration with EMDR.
Consultation is designed for therapists who do not necessarily need an ongoing supervisory relationship but want focused input on a particular case or clinical question. This might include complex formulation, Schema Therapy intervention planning, mode work, treatment impasses, therapist responses or thinking through how Schema Therapy and EMDR may be integrated.
Consultation is distinct from formal supervision and does not replace any supervision required for registration, endorsement, employment or accreditation.
Fee: $250 per 50-minute session (inclusive of GST where applicable)
CLINICAL SUPERVISION
Ongoing supervision for psychologists wanting to strengthen their clinical work, particularly in schema therapy, complex trauma and complex presentations.
Offering supervision for:
General supervision purposes
Schema accreditation
Clinical registrar program
Group schema therapy supervision
Supervision is available for psychologists and other eligible therapists wanting ongoing support with their clinical work. Sessions can focus on general clinical practice or more specialised work in Schema Therapy, complex trauma and complex presentations.
My supervision style is collaborative and practical. We can work with formulation, session process, intervention selection, therapist activation, treatment impasses and the question that often matters most: ‘What do I actually do next in the room?’
Fee: $230 per 50-minute individual session (inclusive of GST where applicable)
MENTORING
Develop your career beyond the therapy room.
For psychologists and therapist wanting guidance around stepping into:
Private practice
Supervision
Education and training
Supporting you to explore how you can diversify your career. Importantly, supervision is not supervision or therapy for clinicians. While I can certainly offer those services, they are separate from mentoring.
Mentoring is for psychologists and therapists wanting to think beyond a single clinical role and make deliberate decisions about the kind of career they want to build. Topics may include moving into private practice, developing as a supervisor, creating education or training offerings, building professional visibility, or exploring ways to diversify a psychology career.
Mentoring is not clinical supervision and it is not therapy for clinicians. If you require clinical supervision, that is offered separately.
Fee: $250 per 50-minute session (inclusive of GST).
